How long should the aircon typically last in a fiat punto twinair? I've have mine since November 2012 and it already needs to be re-gassed! I haven't used it heavily, and I was under the impression aircon gasses should last 5+ years.

I would turn it on once or twice a week to keep the seals from drying up, even through winter but only for around 10-15 minutes.

The dealer has checked it but found no leak!

Hello,

Can last 2-4 years before efficiency is low and need to re-charge.
It can even be more on some cars.

A mechanic told me the people have less problems when they always keep it on, don't know if it's true..

Try to make it running for longer period, at least 30min once a month (or more often)

if they are charging you for the work,
go to a highstreet place, they will evacuate , test + re-gas for @£40

my punto TA is only in 18 months of use.. but no issues,
I use it almost constantly,

Just had mine regassed for the first time in its life after a touch under 10 years.

I tend to run it constantly through the summer and very infrequently in winter, it's not something that 'runs out' so using it isn't going to mean it needs gassing more frequently.

I suspect it may be you've simply not used it enough, and it has allowed the gas to leak out of the joints and seals, doesn't mean there is anything wrong though
