Hello

My engine management light has come on whilst I was sat there waiting for the mrs in the shop. The car was running when the light came on there was no difference in the engine or to the performance. This did this a while back after a good run out which I didn't want to do it went off.

I then left it and thought nothing of it with it going off just thought it sorted its self out. Now it's back on like I said above. The car is in next week for a timing belt and service. Is there anything I could check myself ?

battery voltage off = 12 Volts,
engine running 14+ Volts,

How would I check theses. Would I need one of them battery readers

a BASIC multimeter will do, (y)

Like THIS = http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-L..._Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item27d4f0dccb

put the #RED lead on the Red battery terminal ,
and the #BLACK lead on the black battery terminal,

set the meter to 12 V range, and it will give you the figures

nice + simple.., :)

chances are you've got a low battery = which is throwing up these errors when you try and start the car's engine ;)
