Off Topic Engine tray???

Hello,

Engine tray is the big plastic plate under the front of the car/engine bay ? (sorry for my bad English)

The 2012 1.4 77CV punto doesn't have one.

The Evo Sport 135CV of my brother have it.
Old Grande Punto Sport 120CV doesn't have it.

So what is the rule ? ;)

My Mk2 HGT had it too...

But I prefere without, it is more easy to see under the engine bay and if you have to do something you have not to spend time to remove this tray cover first...

I think "high end" versions have this, under the Punto evo there is not only the tray but all under the car there is some plastics (reducing at 2 points per side to jack the car); perhaps it ts to reduce the "air friction" and lower emissions / fuel consumption ?

could for well be
But think about that engine cover - it keeps the heat in to help it warm up in the winter :)

Prevents the Sump and other underside parts been ground away by road grime - less likely to need a sump change is a win win idea for me tbh....

Ha yes never thinked in that.. can be a good thing in water to warm the engine waster.

For dirt, in my car it come from the wheel archs, they have a "hatch" in and a lot of dirty water enter in engine bay....
