Links dead fella..........

I have full set of winter tyres a far better option imo as they dont just work in the snow ;)

Yes i know that, but for 35 pounds for people who have no room for storing a extra set of wheels they can go in the boot and can get you home if you set out somewhere and the snow falls..

ps link seems to be working..

link is now working since you edited it ;-)

Im not knocking the socks got a set for my sister and dad last winter paid £45 a set in Asda for them,... but on the whole having tried all the things on the market i would go winter tyres every time... Addded bonus as you say winter related bits are cheap at the moment.. and a set of steel rims = alloys safe from winter road salt :)

love the video you ever tried fitting them to a car with the arches full of slush and ice..... :yuck:

Yes i got stuck at the bottom of a hill with a small bridge on it all the cars going up were spinning and going backwards:eek:
So i got out in a blizzard and started fitting them it was`nt to bad ,although while i was fitting them a random stranger was walking past and said oh flat tyre mate  i just looked at him and said no lol.
Anyway i backed up a bit, took a run at the hill and it pulled up no problem ,while others were stuck at the side of the road ,i`d only had my 500 a few months then and did not want to abandon it 6 miles from home

Ive had chains for a good few years (long before these textile socks came onto the market)

they are a pig to fit compared to socks but work very well but i have never needed them since fitting winters... (i still carry them) I was up in the North Yorkshire moors in December 2010

and only had one morning where i had to rock the car out...... then again..
5226385571_0c9309476f.jpg it was bad enough trying to walk in it...... and been the nice helpful chap spent a bit of time pushing cars out the farm yard/ guest house car park yet i never needed help.. (one lass got out of her fiesta with it in gear with the front wheels spinning
Where as before i got the winters i got stuck at one point on the original stock Bridgestone tyres on the flat and where i could see the tarmac :bang:

At one point i overtook a bmw x5 coming back down a hill with all 4 tyres spinning forward yet the GP romped past him to the top :D

Yes i know exactly what you mean ,i work in guisborough its only 7 miles from redcar but its in the hills and has its own climate ,it can have 7 inches of snow, then when i get back home to redcar your lucky if there is 2 inches lol nice pics by the way(y)

ah well you will know that area then the pic of the road was taken between Thornton Le Dale and the Dalby Forrest drive heading into TLD down that big hill and back up again later :D.......

we was at the plexton moor campsite near the south toll gate

Yes i know it well a lot of people avoid dalby forest when it snows but i see you have a adventurous side like me lol and ignore them(y) nice area to drive through though:)

Andy this year after last years deluge i have took your advice and ordered these
Item: Continental WinterContact TS 850 185/65 R15 88T
Amount: 4
Price: £ 56.90
Total VAT included: 227.60 £
so hopefully they will arrive soon ,as i`m sure soon the mild winter so far will change to cold at some stage, and north yorkshire hills at 5 am with ice and fresh snow on are a huge challenge :)
