When i am driving on a normal day i sometimes suddenly get the bulb indicator come on the dasboard then my rear wipers start functioning and the car completely stops?
any ideas of what going on?
the yellow light that looks like a bulb what exactly is it? all my light seems to work

have you checked number plate lights? brake lights?

the number plate light seems fine aswell how comes my car comes to a stop? also my rear screen wipers start working? any ideas mate?

also want to say that it doesnt happen all the time. but when it does happen i have to pull aside and spend a good 30 mins for the light to go back off and the car to start. real pain and quite dangerous when on the main road.

brake lights work?

They "yellow bulb light" is telling you that there is a fault in your lighting system. This could be a blown bulb or a wiring fault or even an incorrect bulb. However it should not cause the car to cut out and the windscreen wiper to come on.
Could be an earth problem somewhere

i saw a mk2 punto today, indicated to turn right and the left rear indicator stayed solid on till the car turned the corner it must be just another one of them faults :|

a couple of years back I had a brake light go and replaced it with wrong sort, think i replaced one that had single earth base with one that had twin (or other way round)and whenever i turned on lights had immediate battery drain and car stopped , have you replaced bulb recently ? might be worth a look

It's just weird that the wiper starts and the engine stops....??? Earth?

does this happen when driving in straight line or is it when turning if when turning maybe your getting a short in the wiring --easy to remove covers around steering column and check for broken/bare wire touching

i have the same problem! only its just my bulb light coming on! its a dodgy earth!

My lights r Fcked at the min, have got 2 lights out at the back and 1 headlight out and not had the yellow bulb light come on once!? mk2 1.2 2000!

oh! ... r u sure there out and that u have the correct bulbs in? .. are the bulb holders connected correctly as thats what faulty on mine - also a mk2 1.2 late 2000 reg.

The light tester only checks certain lights. Which ones of yours is it that are out?

hello there haven't been around for a while. The problem is still occuring and I was cut out on the motorway the other day and had to pull into the hard shoulder. I have found out something rather strange. When this light comes on and the car stops. the bulb light is on, to fix the problem I have to open the boot of the car and slam it hard, then everything turns back to normal. today i have disconnected the rear wiper motor and trying to see if this is the problem. by the way this can happen at any occasion, normal driving.

The problem is now solved. the rear earth screw was very loose and this caused the problem to happen. the car came to a stop because the fuel pump also gets its earth from the same place.

For those of us that read these threads in anticipation of having similar problems (my bulb failure warning light came on once for no good reason), I was just wondering if you could tell us where the rear earth screw was?

Help -I have the same problem. Engine cut out on main road, rear wiper etc all buzzing door Locks chatter, and right indicator comes on. None of these are turned on !! Headlamps radio elec windows etc all work normally. Car will NOT restart. Problem is I am 60 miles from nearest Fiat repair centre. Can't get the car there. ANY IDEAS FOR A QUICK/ TEMP FIX JUST TO GET ME TO THE GARAGE.Do you think if I removed the lighting fuses it would work ???.

P:S. Not replaced anything - fault just happened - when car stopped.
