hey all i wana get sum new rear lights for my punto mk1 now and all the ones ive seen are poo my mates got sum 3d style ones there nice from the back but shabby looking side on to it, are there any that are like smoked black red or evan white or a film i can put over them i need to change the back of my car its looking naff

Tint spray is what you want mate about 10 or 15 quid a can from places like motor world.

Yeah, Ripspeed probably do it. So long as you do a good job then it'll look fine. I sprayed my own light clusters and they came out perfect (see pic).
The trick is give 'em a good clean before you spray them and apply the tint in lots of thin coats over a whole day (leave at least half an hour between coats).

thats the look i wanted it, is there any sanding, other preparing to do apart from cleaning them? do they need a laquor or protectent from rain n stuff

also are the holes down the doorstrips or do they peel off only black bit on my red car they stick out like a peado in a nursery!

Nope, don't need to sand them, just make sure that they're completely spotless before spraying. I used spray-on glass cleaner to shift the muck, then wiped them with a damp cloth, then dried them with an old towel. The tint spray itself is basically a lacquer anyway, so it doesn't need any clear lacquer on top. Although my lights came out with a matt finish (which I quite like), if you want them to look glossy then it might need lacquer on top.

Doorstrips... they're just glued on and can apparently be removed by warming them with a hairdryer and scraping the glue off with an old credit card. I can't be bothered shifting mine as they go well with my car's red 'n' black scheme

nice one lads saved me a fortune! im guna go for the matt look, i like the black n red on ur car original and not cheesy nice!

wot polish shud i use to get the paint dwn the door strip cos its guna b less faded as the rest ive got turtle wax for red cars the once that comes with a chip stick and ive got paint restorer accrylic wax and stuff. ne ideas?

Well you wont need chipstick if its not chipped??? i would imagine some t cut would be your best option and **** loads of elbow grease. im lazy and have a mains powerd buffer

The black section of the lights lines up with the rear windscreen and rear side windows, gives the impression of a continuous line of black running round the car

johnyboys way is also road leagle to as it leaves the rear reflector un tinted, some police can get funny about tinting reflectors

i didnt know that, but it shud be easy to remove it though rite, can always do it again cos it didnt take much tint to spray it

I have a pure Black Punto.. (still need white side flashers ) But anyway.. if i was to tint my rear lights.. Would it be easy to remove the tint or? Maybe alchohol rub it straight off? or is that just stupid? lol Anyone?

hi all,
newbie here from dublin.yeh i tinted the rear clusters on my black mk1,looks geat especially at night as they almost look like theyre just part of the bodywork,very flush. much better than those black 3d ones which look sh*t from side on.
