Hi people, as you can see, my punto has failed for the second time now. Both times I was told that the engine could not hold the required 2500 /3000 revs for emissions testing. Does anyone know how I can overcome this?
I read on another posting that the VOSA are aware of this and have issued a statement, however I can not find such statement :(

Please help guys,

Neil

The speed can be bypassed and held at a higher revs. You can advise your mot test centre to contact a Fiat dealer for information.

How is this done? I presume they operate the revs by the accelerator pedal? My punto has no rev counter, do they connect a device to the HT leads to identify the engine speed?

next time go to a testing station that knows how to use the exhaust gas analyser

when my GF's mk2 sporting went for its last mot they had the same problem (revs kept rising) so they bypassed the rpm measurement by simply pressing a single button on the keyboard. then they could have the rpm at whatever they wanted without the machine giving an error message. (this is the same method used to pass cars that would not normally be able to pass)

if you search the forum you will see a few instances of this issue.
