Hi guys two questions. I have a 2000 Mk2 Punto sporting and the power steering is gone. I've been told that the entire steering column must be replaced. My two questions are:

1. Are the steering columns in the Mk2 the same as the steering in the Mk1?

2. Any chance does anybody know where to get one because i'm having no luck?

Nah don't tell them to go and post the same post somewhere else cos that only clutters up he forum, hit the report button and a Mod will move it to the correct place and it's faster than directing them elsewhere!

1. No it wont. mk1 had pump based power steering, mk2 has electric power steering. italian + electric = faulty, its a very common fault, and not a cheap one to fix.

2. Scrapyard, should cost £35 if removed yourself, £50 if removed for you. You can take a steering column from any mk2/2.5. once it is fitted the car will need to go back to the dealer to have it set up. yet another money making scam from fiat. :bang:

Or £450+vat for a new one...

Ohhh plus diagnosis, fitting etc...
