General Annoying rattle in steering column!!

Could anyone advise me on how the hell you take the top half of the steering column housing!!!

Seeing that there seems to be no haynes manual out for the MK2 punto am having serious trouble.

I have removed the bottom half of the housing by undoing the four allen type nut/screws but the top half does not seem to budge!!...any ideas??

there is now a haynes manual it was released for sale 2 weeks ago i know i have one here

i to have an annoying rattle in the steering shaft it went away when i had the steering shaft assembly replaced by fiat but then it gradually came back like something was working loose now i have to live with it. hope you find a cause for yours if so please post.

well i just looked in my haynes manual to get the top shroud of you have to remove the steering wheel sounded fidly as there is air bag connectors or something. then behind that there are 2 screws that hold teh front of the shroud down you undo them and then wiggle it free.

I have the Haynes manual, it's really worth the few quid for a job like that. I just had a look at the page for removing the column cover, unfortunatly I don't have a scanner or the time to type it all out... sorry!

i have it too it is a good thing to have!! i had the ratteling in mine too looked for it but all i could find was a lose cable dangeling from the colum!! straped it upjust need to drive without my system on to listen if i have done it!! should be weekend when i go pick someone up!! lol! unless my system decides to cut out on me again!!

mk2 punto in white, blue interior and more neons joining the car every day!! looking for ideas!!
