Hi all!

I've been having fun in my punto, loving it!!

However, wether this is an issue or not.. im unsure.. but i'd like some feedback. My car is an mk1 60sx 1.2, and for every £10 of fuel im putting in.. i'm getting roughly 75 miles out of it.

The car runs great, had no issues at all.. but 75 miles just seems a little low??

I don't rag the car, i drive, or cruise.. mostly around normal roads.. or B roads.

A recent motorway journey saw me get 200ish miles out of £20 of fuel.. does this seem normal, or am i on the low side.. and worth checking about?

Pablo.

hasnt been, i bought the car over a month ago - second hand.

Had the oil changed, new oil filter, new air filter, regular toppings up.

The 75 miles is to when the light comes on.. i never run in to the reserve fuel.

Also, my fuel needle is VERY sensitive, it can go from a quarter to fuel light going around roundabouts at times.. is this normal?

this is quite normal, my old alfa would go from half tank to empty under hard acceleration then up to full when you stopped, next time you fill up park on a level road and make a note of where the fuel guage settles then when you've done 75miles check it again to see if its in the same place

I hate in when people measure how much fuel they get to £10. For gods sake fill the tank properly!!! Then you won'y be running on just the crap sediment in the bottom of the tank!.

Brim it and then see what you get untill the fuel light comes on permanantly. then tell us what you get. For reference, the tank is 47 liters, the light comes on at 10 liters (ish) and i got:

55s (running rich): 300 miles to the tank
mk2 sporting: 380 miles to the tank
hgt (fooked variator): 220 miles to the tank.

I WAS measuring from full tank: filled up, drove, then topped up again. but 40mpg doesnt sound too good, given that it was fairly sedate motorway driving.
ah, well, put some redex in the other day, see if it helps at all

I'm getting the same as you PabloSX, I fill up when my fuel light comes on aswell. Not had this car long but reckon as weather gets warmer may get a bit better for mpg.
