General Car starting, erratic revs then cut out??!

Hey guys,
My mk1 1.2 60sx is doing this every so often, becoming more and more common..
it starts no problem (sometimes takes a few seconds though), revs quite erratically then it cuts out. Any idea whats the problem? Its not ALL the time, but it's becoming more common as said. It's really getting to me

have you made any modifications to the car? ie air filter or induction kit?

it was 9 months ago lol i reckon he will have sorted it now.. but i suppose it may be related to your problems?
