Disc brakes on punto from Tipo or Bravo HGT

Hello,

I am new to this forum.
I have a punto 85, 98. Unfortunatelly i do not have a rear discs so I would really like to put it on my punto. I can not get the rear brakes from GT because new ones are too expensive and there is no wrecked GT on the market.

I've been talking to some people about the brakes from FIAT Tipo. It seems that I could take the brakes from Tipo (maybe even from Bravo HGT - i have an oprtunity to buy brakes from bravo hgt) and put it on Punto. Iit seems to be the same brakes on all cars : rear(240mm) and even the front one (ventilated 257 or 284 mm), but i hope that some of you can confirm me that. I can live with small modifications.

Thank you, hope to get some help

Davey

you don't really need rear disc brakes on a 1.2 punto, that's why they don't have them! i know they loook better than drums but i'd say it'll be a pain in the arse to convert

Agreed - and in in normal driving I'll bet you'll notice very little difference anyway. On the track or very fast driving, the Tipo Brakes will still be crap and overheat / fade in no time.

Spend the time / money on something else! What about upgrading Pads / Discs / Shoes etc. to TarOx or similar - probably cheaper / easier?

Here come da judge...

Hello guyst
Thank you for your posts

In the mean time I got disks from TIPO 2.0 16v (front and rear). Now I have to find some time to install it. Taking a first look it needs minor modificatins but nothing drastic. Hope I'll install it soon so I can. I've got whole set (front and rear) for 100 Euro :). Just to compare: one original new fiat calliper for rear brakes costs about 500 Euro at Fiat service shop in my country. Oh yeah, the front disks are 284 mm :). This will look great....!
