Hi all,

Any advice on tinting the mk2 rear lights? I've tried a search but there are a few too many results to say the least! Anyone tried it, or know someone that has?

I know about the actual tinting as I've done it before, but anything regarding taking the lights apart or photos of how they look done would be greatly recieved.

Thanks

they way i did mine was to tape off the lights, use scotchbrite pads to key the plastic and then mix a bit of black paint into some lacquer, covered the lights until they were as dark as i wanted them. The finish was fairly matt so i covered them in a few more coats of clear lacquer.

Hope this helps
Andy

Outside natrually.

Use the Savage tint spray as suggested above, magical stuff easily applied and looks top notch.

Use this on my Black punto and made my lights look bang on. I didn't bother removing the lights just masked them off and applied.

:yeahthat: You would have to be pretty lazy to decide that removing 4 bolts is too much effort in order to spray the lights.

I removed mine from the car and then masked them up before I sprayed them.

Mine came out quite matt and slightly rough because I rushed them  Just take your time and do it right and they will look good (y)

Mine are looking slightly better now that I have given them a going over with some rubbing compound :)

I need to give them another polish to get them perfect but to be honest I've kind of lost interest in the Punto since I bought the Bravo

Well the not sure about the 3 Door, but on the 5 door it;s a pain in the arse to reach the top ones, and the tool isn't really long enough to properly reach to give you enough grip to easily remove the nuts.

Therefore masking which took me all of 5 mins with thick masking tape, was the easier option, and a plus was they were upright and easily sprayed rather than having to hang them up, as when i originally took them off and sprayed them flat on the floor it became lumpy and puddles up slightl

The tool goes over the nut and has two holes (one either side) so slide a screwdriver through the holes and use this to turn it.

When I 1st got my punto (5 dr) the very 1st thing i did was replace a brake light bulb and it took longer to find a bulb in the shed than to remove the lights. Literally 1 min per light max.

I would have used a screw driver if the hole in which you use the tool was wide enough.

here's a photo of mine so far, i put four coats on the lights and one on the reflector, i might give it another coat or two
