1. When I accelerate there are no abnormal noises while changing through the gears. However, when decelerating through the gears (letting the engine slow the car as well as braking) at around 2000rpm there is a definite grinding noise.

2. On idle, in the cold there is a squeek but when the clutch is pushed in the squeek goes.

I'm guessing for problem 1 there is a bearing gone in the gearbox. Can anyone confirm this?

And for problem 2, possible the clutch thrust bearing - although I've never heard one squeek, just grind?

yup, clutch release/thrust bearing makes a noise like a banshee been strangled.

g'box chatter is normal, grinding is not.

checked theres actually oil in there?
