Hi, just a quick set of questions....

Does anybody know at what point you need to pocket the pistons further in terms of valve lift with cams?

What are the standard lifts in/ex?

I am planning on fitting cams with 10.7mm lift in and ex will i run into trouble?

Just for interest, what are the standard valve sizes on the 1242cc 16v?

I have also been looking about for a parts resource other than going to fiat for bits i need for an engine rebuild, anyone know where good quality cheaper parts may be had?

Cheers, Col

where are the cams from? They should hold that info.
I can give you the standard valve sizes (I'll measure them tomorrow) but there isn't much room for larger valves.

shows you a bit of the combustion chamber.
Parts are very expensive, I pick up the occasional bit from ebay but other than that the local motor factors or use google. :(

Thanks, i have my engine bagged and in bits, just half of it including the head and the valves are in Huddersfield with a friend.....

Cams are from Columbo and Bariani and they should be letting my know....

I have found some pistons and rings for 160 Euro a set from italy here.....
they claim they should do the job....

Hi, sorry for the delay it got very busy....

Using my trusty homebase tape....25mm inlet 21 exhaust.

The site shows domed pistons and the 1.2 16v are dished....
I'll put up a picture tomorrow

Picture tomorrow :)

Thanks, i think the pistons that were for sale were still dished but not as much, as there was still a ring around the outside of the piston.

The pockets are much deeper however and being that they are incline at 20 deg to accept the valves , this gives a domed appearance to the land in the center of the dish.
