theres a definite safety issue with tinting the rear lights, the tail lights can be very hard too spot and the paint cant be removed.

onthe other hand rear led s though expensive have been proven to be safer than convention bayonet bulbs because they activate in 6 milliseconds, with no deterioration in luminance

I don't have pics but i got a comment on tinting.

Paint can be removed; you'll need sand paper and alcohol (or similar chemical) and it will come right off though it can't be as factory one. It will go on matt side so you'll need to paint it with red paint if you want shine and as close as possible to stock look (of course i'm talking about specialised spray paints). Therefore, the statement that once blackened tail lights will stay permanently like that is not true.

Secondly, it's true that painted lights can be harder to spot than stock ones but up to certain point. You don't ran them over with the same stuff you used for painting your closet, dog house or whatever. As i said before and as 99% of people know already, there are canned paints made for that purpose. I used Motip on mine, made 2 coats + 1 lacquer to protect it from environment and as a result i still have 100% useful tail lights. Sure, one could tint them in 5-10 coats and they will be almost impossible to spot but if you read the instructions and keep it reasonable you'll be ok.

LEDs normally have much quicker responce time but imo it's their long life that really counts. How many times have you changed bulbs in your driving history (especially on italian cars lol)? It's far more dangerous to lose one position or brake light during the drive (since there's no way for you to notice that) than the fact that conventional bulbs need a fracture of moment more to go on. Again thats my opinion, not saying that faster reacting is useles.
