Riighttt lol second interior section from me, needing a couple of questions answered.
I've got my hands on a 4 metre squared bit of thick dark blue material.
Funnily enough, i've also taken the interior roof out my car to give it a good clean with the trusty OxyClean.

I've decided, after spending nearly 2 hours cleaning the roof (previous owners smoked. at Stock its like a light cream, its all yellow and stuff now... well not anymore coz ive cleanred it) that i want to put these two together. make a nice dark blue interior.

how could i go about this?
Cheers guys..
pete

yeh, i'll look into the spray adhesive. the material i've got is wierd, it's like... furry kitchen vinyl (to put it quite bluntly). got plently flexibility. all in all, it is possible?

yeah its sure possible.

with the mk1 the roof liner is a dead easy shape, only at the front where it laps over the sun visor bits is there going to be any forming, but its just a straight bump, quite easy I would imagine.

if you have a mk2 or a car with a sunroof things get more complex, but if you take your time and do a dry run or two before you get glue down you'll get it done OK>

my mate did his ford ka's roof in black matt furry material (like flocking) very effectilvy

spoke to my gran, she basically makes loads out of fabrics etc. she mentioned fabric dye. pretty good stuff, and shes done the whole internal of her car red with a green contrast like kinda tartan (shes done this kinda thing for years, only ever one it once to a car - hers) and it looks rly good.
originally was light blue crap looking interior now she has a snazzy looking interior - my grans cool. anyways lol, aye - i'll give the dye a shot 1st - if not, possibly look at the 'flocking' alternative.

oh yeah, problems i just noticed - my car has a sunroof. lol, not that i didnt know that to start with. the sunroof lining seems to be made of some bendable plastic so ive just bent it back a bit and it seems fine, dunno how it'll bend back into shape though after... :(

cheers bud

dye the roof by all means, but dying the seat fabric, mmmm not so sure.

A car can be a very damp place, and you'll notice you sweat a lot in the summer and it leaves a smell and dark patchs etc :yuck:

you don't want the dye to make a mess.

flocking and some fabric glue is the way too go, as its easy to clean and can take the moisture.

I too was thinking about changing roof. I have a sunroof and the thing that scares me the most is plastic you mentioned - i'm not sure about bending it. Please write how it goes back when you're finished, the last thing i want is a big leak above my head.

I cant rememer what the sun roof is like in the punto but im sure it would be no big deal to upholster the roof lining.,.,.
Anyone got pics of a punto sunroof?
