hi my girlfriend as just bought a mk2 punto, we bought some 15" alloys it and because the tyres are low profile its really high[V] we have tryed getting lowering springs for it but the shop round here says all thats available for mk 2 punto is 15mm on the back and 30mm front! is this true? we wanted to lower it 40mm all round.if any1 knows where to get um from let us know... cheers andy

i dont understand why low profile tyres will make the car higher...??? low profile means the tyres are thin and with 15" alloys they shudnt affect the ride height over the standard steel wheels. Im hoping to get mine lowered coz ive got 17"s which do make the car higher......mine looks like an off roader!!!

Nah - I'd guess what he means is that the car looks high, because the Low Profile Tyres leave a big gap at the top of the wheel arch - I've lost count of the number of cars I've seen with fancy alloys and 40 something profile rubber and it looks dreadful because it's not lowered and the wheel arch has a big gap.

For a lesson in Wheel / Wing relationships, look at an AMG E-Class (an old E55 for example) looks fantastic cos you'd need feeler gauges to measure the gap between tyre and Wheel arch.

Yeah i agree, ive got 17s n theres a massive gap at the front, the rear isnt too bad but it still needs lowering. I can pick some springs up for around 100 quid and then i wanna fit em myself. do u know if its a big/small job to fit them to a mk2?

hi thanks for the replys,i think the back ones are easy but the front ones are hard you need a clamp to slowly let the tension off the springs! ive had my mk 1 done 40mm all round my bro did it in his garage, he told the front ones can take your head off if you dont do them right lol. stiil not got anything sorted for mk 2 though![V]

you can get a 50mm drop from P.I springs which are about £80 lots of members have done it at puntomk2 and looks the nuts!

hi m8 do u not need 2 buy full new shockers for that? i got told that they only drop up to 40mm on standard shockers?

no u dont need new shocks, but u always could do to improve your ride!
