Hello..

I was thinking to replace my existing pedals and gearknob, with (Abarth?) pedals and a new Leather Gear Knob (also Fiat's)..

And I was wondering, is it easy to do it yourself? And what should I be carefull about? (Apperently, the gearknob is the whole damn thing.. With the reverese handle and so on..)

It is a Mark 2.. Sorry.. I got the gearknob, no problem.. But the pedals? In Denmark, it is illegal to drill into your existing pedals. Is it nessersay to that for the Abarth Punto Pedals?

possibly.

most pedals require that. and the punto's like most other modern cars have their peddles welded on.

you may need to find some replacement arms (used is fine) and get the abarth pedals welded on.
then they'd be legal and look the part.

I believe those pedals are fitted in the punto Abarth as standard. You will probably find a Fiat garage would fit them for you!

In the UK bolted pedals is also a grey area, only legal for track use. These Fiat ones should directly replace the standard rubber ones somehow.

Hej man i am new on this forum and i read that you replaced your gear knob. Can you tell me how did you replaced because i`m afraid that i`ll broke something because of the ring for the reverse.
Sorry for the bad english

when I fitted some different pedals, had to drill into the metal plates. Not hard to do if you have the right drill type.

Abarth ones are likely to be the same.

Old gearknob, you just pull off. It can be really tough though. If the new gearknob is 'lift reverse' compatible, then just stick it on. If not, you can remove the spring and get rid of the lift reverse.

How do you mean i can get rid of the reverse ring. How can i put in reverse position then???:confused:

its just a little spring that you pull off. It's just a protection feature. If you take it off, it means you don't have to lift up the collar when you want to into reverse gear.

I have not taken it off myself, as it feels weird putting it ino reverse without lifting up the collar, but otheres have done it with no probs.

OK thanks man i`ll do that I just have to buy sport gear knob that I liked but I tought that Its imposible to remove that ring

I too am unhappy with my knob. Any advice?

 :D :D :D

thats got to be the best quote for a signature ever!

anyway, whatever you do, do not buy gearknobs off ebay that come from asia. they look classy in the photo, and have a really cool fiat badge integrated into them, but in reality its a printed sticker stuck on top :bang: ah well for £10 delivered i suppose you cant expect much...

  :shakehead :D

Seriously though, the standard gear knob in the JTD is terrible. What options are there that look good and are a straight fit?

i just went down to my local car shop and they had a wide variety of different ones to choose from. I just looked for a knob with a wide bottom for the lift reverse but think i'm going to try the spring idea. . . i really want one of those momo knobs that slant forward slightly so hopefully i can get one now :D :D :D

so if i remove the spring it gets rid of the lift reverse?? is this for definate i have never heard this before?

i might change my gaiter now as well then!!
