Ok guys, I'm fairly new here, had my JTD Punto for a while now and have been searching for ages to see if mine has a diagnostic (OBD2) port ?

During my research I've read it to be located both under the bonnet, next to the bonnet release lever and even been told that the diesels don't have OBD2 diagnostics ports......can someone clear this up once and for all ????

Heres hoping !!

Colin.

Colin, the OBD2 port is behine the panel to the right hand side of your steering wheel. Undo the two plastic screws with a wide flat blade (or 2p!) and the flap will hinge down. Look fairly central within the gap betwen the fuses and there she sits.

Go and tell the person that told you that diesels do not have an OBD2 port that they they should stick to fishing and to NEVER offer anyone advice on a car again.

One thing always worries me is why someone who doesnt know where an OBD2 socket is - should be looking for it? What are they going to do with it when they find it - thats a little scary dont you think?

Nige,

thanks for that....that'll give me something to do over the weekend !

Reason why I was asking is that I've completed a little project I've been working on for a few days.....just put an OBD2 comms circuit together - tested it worked ok (on a friends car :D- non Fiat![V] ) and now want to see whats available on the Punto......any experience ?

Cheers,

Colin.

I gave up trying to devise my own OBD2 port diagnostics stuff ages ago! I only use it to remap the ECU now for performance tuning - hence how I know where they are - and the fact I own a Punto JTD as part of the fleet :)

Had a quick peek behind the flap....I was VERY surprised how much wasted room there was behind it - and yup, found the obd2 connector - will plumb in me slaptop tommorrow and see what it can see !

cheers,

Colin.

Nige,

linked up the slaptop to the obdii connector, pc confirms it can see the port etc (after scanning all addresses - address 33, protocol word $0808 ?), but not sure what protocol to setup ? Have you any idea what the comms parameters should be set to, i.e. baud etc etc ? Is there Fiat specific software to talk to the ECU ? The setup I've built talks fine to the likes of VW / Audi etc....any help or pointers appreciated.

thanks,

Colin.
