I know this sounds crazy but every now and again i go in my punto mrkIi and I feel i can peel apart the steering wheel. It feels sticky and the rubber comes off in your hands if u tug hard enough. Anyone else seen this bizarre problem?

unless you live in Arizona, i don't see why thats happening.

its been contaminated, what hand cream do you use?

if its been in a scrappies or a holding yard changes are its been plastered in dead engine oil.

this makes a fine mess of interior plastics and rubbers. my mates KA was a bloody mess after kwik fit got oil on the wheel and gearknob, then he didn't use the car for about 3/4months, and the steering wheel litteraly looked like a swis cheese

think i found it, also when i googled it there were many other makes that suffer this including range rover:

apparently damp weather causes it, surprised not of you guys have seen it before.

which after that time the plastic breaks down due to UV (yes even from teh small amount of sunlight we get here!).



Oil is what has killed yours.

It might dye them


As for the standard sticky bits and pieces...they are all pretty cheap parts to replace 2nd hand.
