Yeah I have a HGT JTD, they definitley exist! :p I've seen 2 others since I've had mine, perhaps more, but they were driving, so couldn't tell whether they were petrol or diesel by just looking at them drive past. The only visual way of differentiating them is by looking at the rev counters. It only has 100bhp compared to the 130bhp of the petrol, although it can be remapped (not done mine though, I'm happy as it is). It has excellent brakes so I'm sure it could cope with a load more power (discs all round) and it has the 'sporty' suspension set up. However, I may be selling it within the next 2 months as I fancy a change.

Why? they are like the mk1's with better ride quality/better looks/better interior etc.

I like the mk1 but the mk2 for me was a major improvement.

The mk2 is a very clever design, if you squint at one from a distance or, if one flashes past in the corner of your eye, i could be either a mk1 or a mk2. Side by side they don't look much alike, but I think the mk2 is a good evolution of the first, just with sharper edges. And also, the mk2's body doesn't seem to to get affected by small dings (ie people opening their car door against yours). My mk1 was covered in small dents by the time I sold it, and only one was actually caused by me!

I haven't drove a HGT but I Got an MK1 and it is great to drive. I wonder what a HGT is like to drive.

not as quick as it should be in std form.

a few 'light' mod's will release the power and drivabilty that it should have been like in the first place. ask anyone who's got one.

also for a 1.8 its well thirsty. much rather spend the money on a turbo saab, and enjoy 3rd gear wheel spins, ditch clipping torque steer and BETTER fuel economy, oh and leather buckets as std:cool:

thats off topic though.

the HGT I drove was a mk2b HGT in sky/water blue colour at the fiat garage in sunderland. I liked it, but was well overpriced (like £2.25k over the top of a minty private), it had done 60k and no evidence of variator or water pump or cam belt being done so one to steer clear of unless they knocked £1.25k off it(n) )/. some uneducated tard bought it though as I've seen it drivign around team valley a few times (54 plate I believe).

Yeah It's very thirsty the 1.8 Petrol HGT, I get better fuel economy than a lot of users report with my Alfa 156 2.0TS with 170bhp N/A engined gooodness :slayer:. And 2.25k for a 54 plate mk2b isn't bad but as you say will probably need alot of work doing very soon .
