Hey all,
Help/advice on any of these matters would be appriciated - im getting into working on cars and completing work myself...but am still a bit of a n00b!

Firstly, the interior light no longer illuminates when the passenger door opens - ive checked the depression swith and the plugs seem to be in correctly. The light works when the drivers side is open so there is nothing wrong with the light. Is each door ran on a seperate fuse? Do i need to replace the plunger switch?

Secondly, my windscreen wash jets seem to have stopped working! I have isolated the problem to be close to the liquid holder, i have checked all visible tubes anbd they are fine. When i pull tjhe lever for the jets i hear them trying to engage but i think there may be a blockage. The wash is full and there seems to be no sign of a leakage. I would check closer to the tank but all the tubes are hidden under the fuse box  is there an easy solution to this or will it require removing parts and replacing tubing? If that is the problem.

Thirdly (im a pain arnt i :p) my sunroof seems to leak on occasions - its a manual, no electric version. Could it need a new rubber strip around the outside?

Finally, the car does not currently have central locking - i am intending to fit this have no yet decided whether to just go for remote locking or standard and wire it in to an alarm! However for either method i am willing to attempt to fit it myself. Is this advisable? Ive heard its pretty simple. If so could i please have some instructions upon how to do so - including removing the door panel!

Thanks alot :D

Thanks alot :D

you could try to unblock the washer jets by prodding them with a paper pin]
this should unblock if that is where the problem is

Thanks, i will try although i think the blockage maybe closer to the tank which is unaccessable as far as i can see! I have disconected the tube as close to it as i can find and tried the jets - still nothing comes out :bang:

On my mk1, I thought my sunroof was leaking...the water broke my clock, light etc.

I cleared out the drainage holes, but it still leaked.

It turned out it wasn't the sunroof at all, but the aerial base that was leaking, so just sealed the base of it properly.

Thanks alot - ill check that now...how did you go about sealing it properly?

My mate done it for me, I think he used the same stuff as he fixed my side skirts on with...like a black bonding glue...terrible for paintwork!!!!
And I had to wait a couple of days for it to go off properly before washing etc.

I don't think it can be removed again now  but better than a constant leak.

So I would imagine that you can probably get some sort of sealant from halfords. Just be carefull of your paint :)

Or maybe just a thin rubber washer around the bolt (under the base on the outside of the car) would be worth a try :)
