Can anyone tell me the impact this would have on the reliability of my engine and also i see that it has a bad effect on clutches. Do you have to uprate the clutch or is it just a case of putting up with a little bit of slip.

if you go beyond 110bhp and th car has done more than say 50k, the clutch will probably slip.

I'm not sure if there is a part within the fiat parts pile that will fit the engine and gearbox that is from a higher output model (like a late marea 1.9 jtd etc).

but if your gonna get a remap you will go the whole 130bhp hogging way, so yes, you will probably experiance some slip :yum:

Flooring it in a higher gear and labouring the engine forcing it to really work hard will cause clutch slip and as mentioned in general you are making the engine work harder than it was intended to. That said the JTD is a tough engine and all the internals should be up to remap no problem. The one thing I would say that might not have been mentioned is the extra stress put on the turbo, it is wound up earlier and longer. The intercooler could become inadequate if you run it hard on a warm day. One result will be heatsoak and loss of power and the other could be to fry the bearings in the turbo when the intercooler can no longer keep the temp down to stop it.

There is a fair bit of slack in a lot of these engines, meaning the standard unit is produced with various outputs with only minor changes to the spec and a lot of it being done in software, for instance VAG PD 130 and 150 units are the same except for the make of turbo, the injectors and obviously the map. The 130 unit with the right map and mods will quite happily run 190 - 200bhp for at least 60k (It's the highest milage remapped one I know of).

Proportionally the JTD should stack up the same especially as it is only 130bhp afterall :)

JTD's are hard little engines. :) Mine has done 50k on the original clutch (Nearly 10k of that it has been remapped) and the clutch still works. It has started to slip though, and is being replaced when I have the finances. I have not had one single engine problem with my engine itself, and I drive it pretty hard, so go figure ;)

If you have any specific questions post up here or PM me :)

Got my remap done on tuesday. Oh my god i have now got a totally different car :slayer: !! The thing absolutley rocks now , can't believe how fast it is off the mark and it also goes off the clock. Clurch ok for the moment but who knows how long it will last now !!

who'd you get to do it, be careful with speed as standard tyres are only rated to 130mph, 4500rpm = 143mph, have had the speedo needle bend on mine

Angel done it for me. Really nice guys too (y)
The difference is night and day but i've yet to test it against another car. Only been up to 110 with plenty left (god knows what it will do flat out!)
Angel advised that tyres should be my next move, also got some pretty good info about supermarket diesel being rubbish. Shell BP etc is the way ahead!:slayer:

they don't red line power drops off after 4.5k all gone by 5k, was told don't bother with bp ultimate haven't noticed any difference between shell and asda dosen't like sainsburys much, runs great on biodiesel
get an induction kit have the sound to match the power

No smoke at all or atleast no more than when it was standard.
I thought you had to change the fuel filter after a few thousand miles of using bio-diesel ad it cleans all the **** out of the system.
