rough running changed everything :(

Then noticed I had 130 psi on number 3

pulled head gasket and replaced using a cinq sporting head I had.

Guess what.....compression is now around 50 psi and timing has been checked, checked and checked again.

:bang: Now I am really, really p*****d off.

So your only getting 50 on each cylinder?

I'd get your original head tested and skimmed and stick it back on, sounds a bit dodge to me!

Man like this so uncool...

I'm being attacked on all sides by extreme bad karma

so new bolts and new gasket and .....extreme bad karma, this is a lose lose situation,,,I lose patience and funds :( seriously upset the gods:worship:

you say you are running the 886 cam (75 mpi job) instead of the std 176 mark'd cam.

have you reshimmed it, as the 1.1 sporting cinq will defo need to be shimmed up with that cam in that head.

and is your block a 1.1 or a 1.2. daft question, but you never know..... I know lots of people that have put the HG on the wrong way up then wondered why things go slightly wrong..... and yes, it does fit BOTH ways up on the fire's. if you look closly you will see certain oil ways and coolant passages will be partly obsured. that means its the wrong way up:rolleyes:

Ahhh but, yes, but, no, but. Gave up with that head readings were, 50, 120, 120, 50

Back to original head will check compression tonight when I have built up the courage to step in the garage (seriously bad luck).
866 was std with this car so now have std head, std cam.

also have you checked the blocks still flat?

Mr Custard that is unfair ..... you could be right.

put it this way laying on a pallet in the garage is a 16v engine with loom, ecu, etc. Guess what's gonna happen if I can't get it working tomorrow? And, the PAS steering pulley isn't wanted which leaves a drive that could pull a supercharger, using the m45 charger with a std sc pulley gives a ratio of 1.84 - crank to sc - giving around 5/6 boost, as this is the Mini sc then you can fit a smaller pulley on the sc giving around 9 boost. This says to me, Dave attach the supercharger with standard pulley and get it working then use a smaller pulley :) (I hear voices now:eek: ). Back to reality and the long trudge to the garage,

Thanks ;)

an odd vehicle indeed.

previous owner must have fitted it, or they got one from a donor car when theres wore out (never heard of a 8v cam wearing out, the rest of the car tends to fall apart first;) ).

16v idea is a good one.

if you have the ecu and engine wiring loom, hell go for it, its resonably simple if you have the space and everything there. more or less *touch wood* a plug and play job :)

thats if you have all the fuel lines and pump and such. cos their different too

Odds the word - I can think of better words :( , all bad karma in the world is attracted to this odd car. Post May 97 60s were fitted with the 866 which explains why it went so well as 'standard'. More of a 67 than a 60 !

Have located a fuel pump locally from a 75 120lph 2.5 bar as oppossed to the 85 110 plh at 2.5 or 3 bar. But, I don't really want to rush it. Need to check and change, head gasket and cambelt + clutch and lighten the flywheel. Would be nice to do this on the bench with easy access to everything.

So need to solve my nightmare if I can.

Yes,

Changed head checked compression, 60, 80, 80, 60.

 poured some oil down the plug holes and went to get ratty with someone. Started car:eek: Black smoke - surprise :). Car now runs perfectly. (y) WTF:confused:

ahh well

An aside. I was talking to RickysPuntos the other day and he said sounds like you have a bad throttle sensor connector leading to the ecu reading full throttle all the time. Hence crap idle but, goes well at full revs. So I cleaned the connections (wd40) on the ecu. Wonder if that was it?
