I have got a metalic red punto 60s and want to spray my console, everyone has sprayed them silver and i thought i might be different and spray mine gold. do you think it would look any good or would it look naff... thanx for your advice good or bad

That's up to you, try it on a spare bit first, may give you an idea of the finish before going all out with that colour. :slayer:

gold will look naff.


silver/ matted down mettalic silver is the way to go.
OR you could find some late sx vent surrounds, the purple ones, and try and match the centre console with them (I think the bit around heaters was purple on the late sx's anyways?).

i did mine blue but only because my car is blue and my seats are blue...i also removed the dash and sprayed that too heres a pic but that was before it was finished!!

I done mine a metallic purple.

It's quite subtle....and from outside the car, doesn't stick out.
But from inside it shows up more than it does in this picture...

Samwilliams - You can get these kits from ebay - pretty expensive though - i think 19.99 plus post and packaging.

Far cheaper if you DIY

i agree took me about 5/6 days doesnt take long about getting the dash out its the preparation and spraying takes the time (BE PATIENT!!!) and in a few days when my gt centre console is finished (thanks beau) i will get pictures up takes a few days but the result is definately better id rather a black dash and bright centre console that dull grey and bright colour....give me a few days and i will have completed pictures it has taken me a while due to work and stuff but deffinately worth it in my opinion!!! and thanks for the comments guys makes me think it was worth the work even more!!

Spray the same colour as the car it will look a lot better than silver or gold. There is a guy on here with a yellow one and the blue one above looks amazing. I was thinking of doing mine blue too.
If your too worried about wrecking the console just go to a scrappy and get either another console to spray or just a bit of one to practise on.

I did mine myself and it only cost about £15 for sandpaper,and spray,took about 2 and half days but i think it was worth it,its just a case of the more elbow grease you put into your prep work,the better the finish,so take your time and dont rush,a rush job will look naff in the end,also the colour of the car is the way to go!
