Hello,

I have a previous post regarding an ecu swap (this has not been completed yet). My Punto 2001, 3 door, 8v 1.2 has been diagnosed (AA) with a faulty coil due to intermitent start problems. Yesterday my yellow key light stayed on and now the radiator light is coming on after warming up - the car did start and ran OK. Can this be related to the coil causing ecu problems, and what does the key symbol indicate. The car is basic with no immobilser.

Thanks,

Graham:confused:

Your car most certainly does have an immobiliser!, its just transparent in operation. It will be most difficult for anyone to give accurate help with electric system without diagnostic equipment. I can guess that the problem is probably between the ECU, in car electronic module, wiring, so the possibilities are huge. Why dont you put in the replacement ECU you have and check for improvement, then if still no good take it in for diagnostic check.

Thanks T,

So reading into this, it could indicate that the ECU may be faulty. I used the car yesterday and the key symbol did not appear. I hope to get the replacement fitted this weekend. I haven't the opportunity during the week.

Thanks, After I have my head gasket replaced I will investigate further. The key light has not appeared again since but the temp warning light has, along with a chocolate flavoured yoghurt visible in the top of the engine. Only had this piece of **** 2 months and wow. ECU failure, coil failure, wiper packed up, hgf. I guess these cars are part of our throw away life style. But after 50k, at least my m/cycle is good for another 100K with 50K already on the clock.
