hi all

i just brought sum new dials for mi punto mk1 and i heard that i cant plug them straight in as it can mess the ECU up

are they just a straight replacement and also i need to change the clocks to say my correct mileage too, is that possible

thanks lacey_punto :slayer:

what exactly do ya mean by "dials"? is it a new cluster or just the dials them selves.,.
& no, you wouldnt need to change the milege to you correct one., unless of course it has higher milage than yours, in which case id deffinately change it but if its lower i leave it,
dont worry, it'll be our little secret, i wont tell anyone!!! LOL

its a new cluster yea, i need to turn the milage up to my massive 120K!

will it affect anything if i dont turn the dials forward? like MOT wise or insurance or anything like that

well just check that if you have a service record that your not putting less milege on than it had at its last service and nobody will know, so it cant affect your insurance.,.,
why are you changing your cluster anyway? is it for the rev counter or something?

i havent done it myself but a friend of mine did and i think it was just plug and play, not 100% sure though??

well i saw sum white dial clusters on ebay and won em for 2 quid so i was just asking bout em

it sounds like a rite arsehole to change just the dial fascias so i got the full thing for the easiest

so, so long as i dont change the mileage on the new clocks it shud b alrite?

yeah you shouldnt have any problems, just take out the 2 allen key bolts in the front of the gauges and pull out the whole cluster. there'll be 4 block connectors on the back, just squeeze them and pull them off, fit in your new one ,
And your done!! give yourself a pat on the back,.,.,

coz then he can tell you that the lockwood ones you ahve bought wont fit, coz he bought ones that didnt fit (that were fake) and was surprised they didnt fit :p

If yours is a diesel then it wont work with those dials will it? Link would actually be helpful, and yes, you can post a link of what you've won on an ebay auction after its ended

(y)

ill find the link n post it asap :slayer:

no i paid 2 quid coz i picked em up, no postage costs

are you ever happy with what any1 buys beau lol :bang:

yes they'll be fine.

you just need to remove a little locking pin from behind numbers, then spin them gently without damge. then try to lign the teeth on the numbers back up with the pin with the gears on it.

its quite tricky, but possible
