I know there a lot of fiat techies and car enthusiasts on here and i was wondering how do i go about adding all those extras that you'd find on the later models of mk1's not found on the S model, I'm a noob, but very enthusiastic....

And No smart remarks of buying a higher spec model please LOL!

Electric Windows
Central Locking
Speaker Pods in Door Cards
Window Tints

Any help is appreciated, or anyone offering to be able to do any of these for a price is appreciated

thanx

PM faster4_tec or Cinquepunto. They've both done the first three.(y) Either that or wait for them to see this thread!

cheers i'll try and pm them what about painters, any good spray painters on this forum and how much roughly to get a whole car painted or blown over in the standard colour it is?

usually you would pay around £1000 for a good paint job as there is far more involved than you'd think,
first the whole car has to be
cleaned and scotched,
then any dents either tapped out or filled and any deep scratches need to be sanded to the metal, then they need to be primed for paint,
few coats of paint later, it'll be laquered probibly three times and flat sanded afterwards. it will then be dull so it has to be buffed with compound to shine it back up, and finally, a hand glaze,.,.
you might find somewhere cheaper but if they dont have an oven to do the car in, dont bother with them as no matter how much you try you'll get little bits of dirt in the paint and it'll look Cr*p,.,.,.

Electric Windows:- get motors and switches from scrappy out of the appropriate model - I assume 3door? (also get some/all of the wiring loom). Got to halfords/similar and get lots of wire (8amp) - set aside 2-3 hours at least, and it may be worth waiting until it warms up a bit. Also get a large collection of swear words, you'll need em.

Central Locking:- get motors from a punto at the scrappy and wiring (3 and 5 door models have the same motors etc in the front doors) and the yellow relay (this is in the glovebox on the passenger side - above the little flap in the top) Try and get the whole aux. fusebox/ at least the connector from the back and some wire (4-6" should be fine) Join the coloured wires together. Allow about 2 hours and not so much of the swearing...

Speaker Pods:- these are getting to be quite a rare find, even more so for 5 doors (only the ELX had these). Try the classifieds on puntosports.co.uk or a scrappy. If it's a 3 door you've got more choice but the GT1/ELX cards are shaped and the Sporting/GT2/GT3 are flat with the speaker pods on top (either will fit). Quite an easy job.

Tinted windows:- 4 bolts take them off - same 4 to put them on...

Where abouts are you located?

Eleccy windows, from scrappy, with door looms, don't need dash looms.

Central Locking buy a romte locking kit from ebay £25

Speaker set - will vary according to what system you want.

re wire it.

tis quicker. and pretty much fool proof

:

how would i go about doing that and what would i need there is always puntos with elecric windows and that at the scrappy near me... contemplating doing this now....

:D

I win!! te he

you want the loom off an sx model (in the same number of doors as what you have now, 3dr or 5dr). which will yield power windows and cl.

got mine from an 85ELX (top of the line).
so I've got everything. inc 1 touch windows, funky sun roof/clock panel/remote locking (haven't got key though :-( and the best of all. a boot light. believe me, tis worth it just for not having to have a torch everytime its dark (its dark for 2/3 of the day at least at teh mo, so its kind of handy!!!!)

loom cost me £10, inc th two fuse boxs. although theyweren't exactly happy about it.
took me three hours to remove (start at boot lidandm work toward dash).
4hours to sensibly remove my interior (I tore the scrap ca appart!!!:worship: ).
3hours to refit to my car.

remeber to use a good strong bit of string to do boot lid circuit.

Im located in birmingham mate an chance anyone would be able to fit the stuff into my S if got the parts from a scrappie?

is it???

I regulary curse the haynes when it says step 4) 'remove' blah blah part.
and offers no pictures or description of how in the hell to remove said part

and it does that on EVERY page, believe me.

some common sense and use of the forum search and destroy function shall make the job pass fairly easily

ok so when you say wiring loom you mean pretty much the whole electrics? i wanna do this but its sounding far too complicated..im pretty much mechanically sound but when it comes to wiring im ****!!! thought about getting all the bits from fiat but that would be far too expensive!!! could someone possibly show me a dumbed down version with pictures or somethin lol (y) (y) i know im dumb but surely someone must be able to help me understand this lol

I really don't fancy taking my car apart.

it really is quite simple.

if you search for my name and re wire you should find me describe this in detail many times.

start at teh back or the front of the cabin, and find all teh wires, taking off trim as you go (one bstrd part is the wires that run up LH side where the fuel switch is, carpet is very tight and makes it hard to remove the switch
