Good Evening All,

Wonder if anyone can shed any light on a puzzling issue.

I noticed with all this rain we are having a leak in the boot of my 2001 Punto 8v,

Now the weird thing is I cannot locate the leak and its doing my head in :bang:

Basically its running down the driver side rear speaker cable and onto the boot carpet. There are goblets of water on the underside of the speaker casing! Bizarre are what. Checked the main Hatch Seal and this looks fine?

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Mark

Its got to be a seal, get inside the back of the car and get someone to run a water hose around. You might have more luck finding it.

rubber grommets for the wiring for boot hatch?? they can get mildew in and around them causing them to seep through, if its been disturbed and its loose it may well poor thru!!!

I had water in my boot, and it was from rear washer jet leaking from inside the boot hatch.
so thats worth a try.

thanks for the heads up guys.

Fiat have taken a look and they reckon it could be the offside tailgate light might need replacing and re-sealing.

Feasible reasoning?

possible but hugely unlikely.
the taillights don't actually have a rubber seal on them, they just rely on the shape of the bodywork inside to deflect water into the usual boot drain channels.

Hope you didn't pay them anything!!!! I really can't believe you went to them!!!

if you had aftermarket lights then maybe,, but std ones, I hugely doubt!!!!
you'd been better spending that inspection money buying a new boot seal and fitting yourself (its so easy you would not be impressed if you paid someone to do it!!) boot seal should be well under £20

Cheers for the Advice.

No I didn't go with the advice of Fiat as it seemed not to come from that area.

Any idea on where to get a boot seal from?

Ta,

Mark
