Was driving along last Friday, car cut out and wouldn't start up again. Would chug, but wouldn't start. AA man couldn't find anything wrong, checked the Plugs - OK, checked the fuel injector - OK. Only thing he could think was the fuel pump wasn't kicking in (couldn't hear it). Got a tow to the local garage anyway.

When they got round to looking at it, they couldn't find anything wrong at all , not a sausage?!? Except the battery was flat, they charged it up and it started no problem. Great I thought no expensive fix, hooray:D

But I get in this morning and it doesn't start, try the ignition 3 times, not even a chugging no noise at all. Just entering the AA's number in the old mobile, tried it once more and away I went!

I have no idea what it could be, the garage said they checked everything they could think of, no loose connections etc... Hoping maybe its just the cold... :( Any ideas?

Would help if you started what mark and model punto you own.

Has the car been turning over everytime ?

Ho ho ho, didn't cross my mind, isn't everyone telepathic :yum:

98 Punto 90 ELX

Is only used to from work during the week (15 miles each way) and a few motorway journeys...

No problems previously, or after Friday morning, seems fine again....

If you turn the ignition to position number 2, you should hear a quiet whirring/buzzing noise for 3/4 seconds which is your fuel pump activating.

If you can hear it it'll at least tell you it's not an electrical problem, but you could still have fuel line blockage or the pump could still be defective.

I'd also check build up on the injector head obvious signs of damage.

I would recommend using an injecter cleaner into your fuel tank to clear fuel line blockage problems...

Cheers, sounds promising, I'll give that a go tomorrow ;)
