I have a 2000 Punto HGT and the tyres required changing yesterday. The standard tyres are 185/55 VR15....however for some reason they are almost twice the price of 195/50 VR 15. Can I stick new 195/50s on instead of 185/55's?? (On all four wheels of course !!![8)])

Thanks.

yes you can. the radius is practically identical and 185/55/15 is not as popular over here so they're more expensive.

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX, what do you want? cupholders? open door warning light? grow up!

your speedo will be slightly out but only a little so when it says 60 on ya dash you will be doing 59 with 196/50's. used thsi webpage to work it out its well handy if you thinking about changing ya wheels http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

2001 Punto sporting in sprint blue with matching Mr Bump air freshner all together now mmmmmmm

the speedo overstates the speed anyway! the difference is negligable, and not worth shelling out double for 185/55 tyres,

Cheers for the advice...one other thing though..probably stupid question but do I/should I have to tell my insurance company as this is a non-standard tyre for the car???

hmmm well i wouldnt tell but even if i change my wheels i wouldnt tell em.

but seriously i think you are ok on the tyres you are keeping teh same wheels just changing tyres so you should be ok. i think they like to know about wheel changes as nice new big shiny alloys can attract unwanted attention.
