hi ive just bought a mk2 2001 punto, ever since i bought it when i pull away from a junction theres like a squeal. it happens as i let the clutch out. it doesnt do it all the time maybe once a day or something, no particular time or anything. just wondered if anybody has any idea wots rong with it

Sounds like your release bearing if it is you will need a new clutch could also mabye be the gearbox oil has turned to waterish stuff as ive heard it does the same sympton squealing when mainly pulling away in first gear...

thanks for such a fats reply. if it was the release bearing wouldn't it be making the noise all the time. another thing it every now and agian crunches reverse i have to pump the clutch a little bit before it will go in without crucnching but that doesnt happen very often. thanks again

crunching into reverse seems common sporting mk2's etc.

If pumping it is helping then maybe it just needs bled (they are hydraulic, hence the smoothness of the pedal), as its not reaching full travel so not declutching enough to make smooth changes.

release bearing might not make a noise atall then just GO, mine DID go (do a search for faster4_tec destroyer of clutchs FTMFW or similar), and made random noises for months before, in the last hour before death it was very inconsistant, then just went.
the pic's will explain it all:devil:
