Hi everyone! Great group, decided it was time to post!

Thinking of trading in my Bravo 80sx against a new 16v Active Sport Punto. Been speaking to various dealers and getting prices etc but no-one seems to be able to match carhound.com who are currently doing the said car for £6992. Has anyone used or know of anyone who has used carhound, any comments, good or bad?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi dave

I'm awaiting delivery of a pre-reg 16v active sport via carhound. Filled in the online forms a couple of weeks ago and was called by Haywards Cars Direct in Kent the same day (Fri). They added on £150 for delivery with no option for collection and were desperate to tempt me with metallic paint for £280, telling me it didn't come in my choice of a non metallic blue which I'm sure you know it does. A quick "I've got the brochure in front of me" soon shut them up ;).

Anyway by Wed I'd got delivery down to £45 and £300 extra for my part ex, with a £500 deposit put down the car was ordered with an April delivery estimate (due to factory fit options of air con and mp3 CD with sub). Overall, with a bit of haggling I'd got a good deal and feel that the service offered both by carhound and Haywards was pretty good. Check with the dealer if the cars pre-reg if you are expecting true new. Obviously I can't say about the car itself and I have to pay the remainder of the balance a few days before delivery, but I've been told to thoroughly check the car before I sign for the delivery guy. I guess it's not the most comfortable way of doing it but you pays your money and you takes your choice.

I'll be interested to hear both your your views once you have taken delivery. What is the lead time from order to delivery?

Order to delivery for me is around 8 weeks, with delivery mid april. Although there's no problems yet, I'm prepared for some delay. I would normally be desperate to get my hands on a new car but I've got a new job and new house with all the related problems to take my mind off the car!

Have you had the phone call regarding the discontinuation of sprint blue and it's replacement by morano blue? Just curious to see if this is now a common thing.

Well everyone it is now time to report on my experience of buying through Carhound.
after a couple of false alarms with availablity dates my 04 plate 8v active sport was ready to collect from Chatham, I had decided against some 17yr old artholing my pride and joy 230 miles up the motorways.
Collection was made from Haywards Cars Direct and I have found them to be a very professional and courteous company to deal with.
I have saved a total of £2100 on dealers qoutes for a UK spec car.
I would definately use this service again 5*

kryophyx:
I have the got the sprint blue because the car i chose was already pre-ordered by Hampshire main fiat dealer and on the ship.
Superb Colour ...Grey is the best trim colour option.

hope this helps with any decision making.............

Just got the latest brochure through the post

sprint blue has been repalced by murano blue and
broom yellow is now imola yellow

colours look similar on paper tho'

My Moreno Blue Punto will be ready for collection from Chatham (I agree with greatoaks' view on collecting) on Sat 8th May. They could deliver on Fri 7th, but I've just started a new job and didn't want to accept delivery at work and I would much rather collect myself. I'm sure it's easier if there are any problems to have the dealer there in person.

I'll update on the whole experience soon. Not much more waiting now :D
