There are two unrelated issues, but have appeared at roughly the same time...

For about a week now one or more (but I think just one) of my wheels has been squeaking. I'm not sure what to do about this; I can't pinpoint which one. Someone in the passenger seat will say it's a wheel on the left, whereas I'd say one of the right hand wheels, whilst driving along. One thing I'm confident about is that it is a front wheel, because the squeaking stops when I turn left slightly.

I would jack up the car and spin each wheel to figure it out but for want of a jack! There's one of those weird diamond shaped screw things stuffed in the spare tyre in the boot but that's it. Anyway what exactly is it and what can I do about it? I figured it would be a bearing somewhere, it seems to change pace with the rotation speed of the wheel - anything from 3mph to 70mph. It's not something WD40 can fix, is it?

Okay second problem... on starting in the morning for the last few days the car sounds less like a small petrol and more like a diesel :D it sounds like it's knocking, not in the usual sense, like something is tapping or clicking on each revolution. Mind you the mornings are cold now, and the noise vanishes as the engine heats up. I've seen so many threads about head gaskets, I'm hoping it's not the case! :bang:

Any ideas?? :)

Had a similar problem with my wheels, tho i'm not sure you will have the same solution.

When i pressed on my clutch while in motion, there was a squeaking noise from the wheels. I jus tightened all the wheel bolts and the sound disappeared. Odd, I know, but give it a go

Weird.... ok yeah I'll give it a try tomorrow, come to think of it I thought one of the hubcaps felt unsecure when i was washing it the other day (I just thought "pfft, crappy hubcaps" and left it at that) I'll have another peek..
