Hi all. I would REALLY appeciate some advice!
My punto (tiprtronic gearbox) is doing all kinds of weird and wonderful things, I am guessing that its down to the electrics - hopefully something simple to fix!
When I brake or use my indicators, the gears start clicking as if changing between reverse and drive and the letters next to the gear stick switch between reverse and drive and I get the reverse warning noise.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if anyone knows where I should be looking for something odd before going and flushing my money away at a garage!

THANKS!

mk2's have bad software on the body computer, and *that* can be fixed by reseting it.

not sure if the same applies to the auto box.
but defantly worth a try I would think.
just unplug battery negative terminal for say 20min's should do it.

if no change try some more serious electrical problem hunting.

the fact your indicators are effecting it I would think maybe the earth cables have come loose or got damaged (cables get damaged just with age, and can randomly fail).
there WILL be an earth cable connected from the wiring loom to the car's body on both sides underneath the dashboard, (under carpet in footwell or back of bulkhead).
the gearbox control unit *may* share oneof these earths, and if its loose it iwll spaz out like it has.

worth taking the earths you can find off, and cleaning them with wet and dry and some wd40, then drying and bolting back on resonably tightly
