Right here goes,

I had a new headgasket etc fitted around 3 months ago at fiat...and the coolant level was fine obviously......i took a look at it just recently and i noticed it had dropped to just below the minimum mark from its nomal level just above the half way mark,so i topped it up,its fallen back down to around the minimum mark again, and thats where it stays when the car is cold, when i have been out in the car and its warm and i then check it,its back up at the nomal level....is this ok??? i thought it was supposed to be at normal level when cold, not when its warm, should the coolant be expanding that much?? i have had 2 other cars and the coolant level never budged in them it was always at a constant where the mark is...............why is the coolant level varying so much????? this friggin car is doing my nutz in:bang:

I have the same problem, after changing the HG the fluid level keeps dropping to just below the min, then stays there.
a few month back I topped it up to just over the max, and now it doesn't go down atall.
its just just over it mind

HERE WE GO AGAIN.....took it to a fiat dealer as was not happy with coolant and it had its headgasket done 2 months ago.......its bloody gone again!!!!!!! cant believe it.saving grace is i dont have to pay as its covered by a years guarentee but its just crazy, are all punto's crap or is it just mine?

sounds like they are being fitted by amateurs.

if your head was not badly warped from overheating, as was skimmed correctly upon fitment of the replacement you shouldn't have another problem, as the hg you are replacing it with are much better (as long as it doesn't say fiat on the packet;) ).

if the garage has pulled a fast one and not skimmed it (can take a day, as you have to strip it, take it across town or to another town to get done, que up, wait wait, then theres a coffee break, then more waiting, then they do it, then you take it back, and often its the next day already), then you will get nothing but problems

mine has never gone, as I changed it at 60k like it says in the book, also did cam belt and that has never snapped on me either.

preventivive maintance, we all know what goes on them, what the hell is your excuse NOT to replace it when you hear these things.

the headgasket was dont by fiat and a fiat dealership,so i can only asume it wasnt done properly by the guy doing it......as i would have thought that the fiat mechanics know what they are doing or else they wouldnt have a job working on fiats at a fiat garage........anyway because i had it done with fiat,i got the years guarentee on parts and labour so i dont have to pay this time round, its also getting done at a different fiat dealership as the one i used to take the car to is now no longer....so fingers crossed this time should be the last ....YEAH RIGHT
