HI all... i'm pretty new to all of this, but would be very much appreciative for some advise.. this website helped me resolve my heater and cooling system probs - hope you can help me here...
OK. Recently i was getting a engine coolent temp' light warning, only to find i had a leaking radiator and an air lock in the cooling system. Changed the Radiator (hole was too big for radweld) and the problem was solved... heating was fine and no leaking or loss of coolent.
The car itself I have only had for around 2 + months now, but i have always felt the fuel economy to be a little high considering its only a 1.1 S. May just be my driving though, but just to let you know...
Anyhoo, driving the car back from work today... 70mph on motorway and i swear i felt/heard a "small" knocking or bumping sound once or twice - as if something had dropped off the car and hit it or id run over a sharp bump in the road... through the tyne tunnel after 20mins of traffic and at 30mph going over a speed bump the fuel injector warning light comes on, i lose a good chuck of power and have to keep foot pretty low to floor to achive any acceleration. max speed in 3rd was typically 30mph?
Luckily i was close to home so managed to drag the poor soul back to the drive like. Gutted...
While getting out of the car there was a slight smell of a burningy kinda smell, hard to put finger on but i had never smelt it before and as the weather was lashing down i left the car and ran in the house. Havent checked the bonnet or anything yet, so...
Its pay day on friday, and as i only paid £350 for the car, i really really dont wnat to be forking out anymore on repairs.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? And, realisticly how much i would be looking at to fix, garage or parts and myself fitting?
Ohh and just to let u know, may not be relavent, but my clutch is VERY stiff to depress and put into gear, reverse is a bit*h and makes a hell of a grinding noise sometimes...
