well my problem goes as this, some time my car fails to turn on for at least 5 minutes and then out of the blue it will. when running all sorts of lights will pop up indicating a ecu problem.

i have had the ecu repaired by the fiat agency who have said it should be fine but this problem crops up agian and agian. alongside this a new problem has developed whereby ill be driving and then my car will loose all power and start to judder and the engine management light will come on.

fiat wont sort this out but charge make £40 everytime i take it to them

what could be wrong ??

there are quite a few problems with mk2's at the moment doing this sort of thing.
to be honest I think the weather doesn't help!

if you hold on a mk2 owner will tell you whats up, theres a fiat tech guy called T14.... (sorry forgot!) who will be able to help you, he deals with these problems everyday on fiats so will know what to do!

also read thru the FAQ sticky topics at the top of the page, it might be a simple problem thats already listed and costs nothing to fix(y)

iv been told by the rac that the ecu is messed up, two coils arent working which are misfiring. also the car is only running on 2 cylinders.

does that help narrow it down by any chance ? going through other threads theres similarities but havent found the exact same problem as me

well if you have a coil or two out no blooming wonder!!!

get a new one wacked in there (Replace in pairs is always a good bet if you are not sure which one is faulty)
as punto's have electronic ignition controlled by the ecu, not a seperate ICU, so a dead or faulty coil will really mess things up.

coils are between £28-45 each (8v 16v) you need two AFAIK. much cheaper to experiment with though's than ecu's and such!
you can fit coils your self easy enough:)

i have replaced the coils, but i still have the same juddering problem and the engine management light coming on. it does start up everytime though now
