Hi
This is a total numpty question I know but never having owned a car I am a bit thick when it comes to repairs (although do pick stuff up easily and am happy working most things out myself)
Can anyone tell me how to reattach a wing mirror unit to a punto mk1 sporting? Some gimp took it off and scratched up the paintwork and it is now hanging by the wires that change the mirror angle. It looks like a pretty simple job ie holes which maybe a wire is fed through and twisetd but am not sure - basically nothing is broken as far as I can see, the two metal joining bits are in place in the door and mirror unit but I just can't work out how to reattach them together - I'm sure it's pretty simple??

hi there well i did change a mirror on a mk1 a a whie ago but here goes.

the wing mirror comes in 2 parts the part that attaches to the car with 3 hex head screws. wich i assuem is still attached to teh car???? and then there is the bit that hold the mirror glass. this attaches to the other one with i think maybe 1 or 2 screws. they must of gave it a big wack to get this of and i hope that nothing is broken.

the mirror section has the adjust wires attached these pass threw the other section into the car. (dam this is hard to explain) the mirror section then locks into the other section. there should be a big hole in the section arrached to teh car. the mirro section slots into that, you have to put it in at the wrong angle then you sort of twist it back and it locks. then either underneath or on top there is a rubber cover that covers 1 or 2 screws these are there to stop the 2 parts comming apart. not sure how they got it apart maybe they have damaged it. hope what i said makes some sense it is quiet easy really. let me know

2001 Punto sporting in sprint blue with matching Mr Bump air freshner all together now mmmmmmm
