Okay guys quick question. I was having a nightmere getting a fiat dealer to get the central locking working on my car. I left it in for a few days and got it back still not working and they said it was a problem with the key and that a new one had beeen ordered.

I got the car home and noticed when i manually locked the doors my alarm wasnt coming on anymore. Opened the engine bay and my alarm was gone!?!?

Now i got other work done to the car which involved the engine getting taken out, so i'm convinved they actually took the alarm out during that and forgot to put it back in!!

I called the dealer and they said it was gone for "repairs", but it worked grand for me before then.

So my question is this. Does the Alarm in the engine recieve the signal from the remote key and hence control the central locking? I thought the alarm was seprate and that it was just toggled on once it sensed the doors locked.

The alarm model was the standard Laserline one and was fitted closed to the passenger side of the engine bay. In my other non-alarmed sporting theres something else there instead, it looks like a box with lots of black pully-cables coming outta it, like the cables ya seen on cycleing bikes.

Cheers Guys!

sounds like your fiat dealer is as good as everyone elses at keeping you in the dark, and generally being rip merchants.
they may have half inched it to fit to one of the workers non alarm'd cars.
or it could be totally innocent, i.e they forgot to put it back in after hoiking your engine out.
or it could be (the most likely one), that they have not taken the alarm box off when taking engine out, and upon slotting it back in, have totally destroyed it with their incompetance.
