Can anyone help?

I have a punto 75sx 1.2 engine and im having trouble with power. When i change gear the power seems to go for a while and then comes back but the car also stutters. Some1 said it could be the carburetor needs cleaning. Does anyone know what the problem might be? also having a weird rubbing noise on the brakes drivers side?

has it been serviced?

i have only just bought it a week ago. it has a full mot though.

yeah but that doesnt relate to servicing,id be checking the plugs n leads 1st personally

Oil and filter, air filter, plugs and leads, clean air pipes and oil breather pipes and the little breather filter.

if that fails try the coil packs.
