Hi,

2nd post - unfortuently it has to be when I have a problem

I have a just less than half full tank of petrol and have tried twice (at seperate garages) to fill it up as I'm going to be doing heavy mileage over the next few days and twice its cut out at me with a few pence on the metre then sprayed back at me

Managed to get it up to about £3 although most of that went on the forecourt.

Is my car crooked? It had a full service and MOT last week. Would be interested to know if anyone else has had problems like this at all? (The car is an 8v, 1.2, X reg if this helps at all)

Thanks,

Biff10

Your car is possessed, call your local Fiat Priest immediatly...

My local fiat Priest 'or dealership' just turned into a Nissan garage. Any other ideas?

It sounds like a pressure problem. Is the car running ok?

Seems to be running well - I'm probably drving it harder than normally in recent days but havent really noticed anything different. It still has the continuous rattle which has been with it since I bought it

Im not sure if this is what the problem is but I know from experience that the anti-siphoning neck/flap on the mk2 and mk2b Puntos can cause problems when filling up.

I have never had the petrol spray back out at me but have had the petrol pump cut out every few pennys at a time. This is simply a case of move the pump nozzle around a bit until its cut-off is not being affected by the fuel tank neck.

I hope that helps mate.

Thanks for your advice mate. I'm going to give it another go tomorrow and hope its okay!

I find if I put the petrol nozzel all the way in then it will keep cutting out every so often which is really annoying. So all I do is pull the nozzel back about 1cm and it fills up fine.

I had the same problem on my X reg 1.2 8v, took me about 30 mins put 10 litres in. It lasted about 2 weeks, then went okay.

Cheers guys,

Managed to top up my tank today at last. Never been so happy to spend £30 in all my life

It cut out again twice this time early on at which point I nearly cried then I attempted to refuel at an angle never before seen on a garage forecourt and it worked. Took it really slowly and it gradually edged up to full. Sure its not meant to be done that way but now I know for future. Reckon thats good advice from Jem8472 as well :D
