Hi.
My cam cover seal has been leaking for a while. I replaced it and it still leaked. Then I tried some blue hylomar on the bottom metal surface (as recommended on this forum) but it's still leaking. Anyone got any other suggestions? Should I put the hylomar or the seal or on the metal? Just on the bottom flat side or on the top aswell? Any help appreciated! Thanks.

when you change the gasket you need to clean the surfaces really well otherwise there is no point, get a new gasket, clean both surfaces and try again.

To answer my own post: I finally fixed it on the 4th attempt! The key was to get a genuine Fiat gasket seal which was a bit thicker than the non-OEM one I got from a local motor parts shop. Got it off ebay and it was cheaper than the non-OEM one anyway!

I used blue hylomar all over, but I read elsewhere on here that you mainly need it at the ends of the semi-circular sections. I think that was where mine was leaking from before. Good luck!

Mine's been leaking for well over a year. It's not a problem, I just kept topping it up and didn't park it on the drive!

mine is leaking as well.

this appears a common problem on these cars as when i saw many cars in the buying process, the majority had the leak from the camshaft area.

buy the oem gasket from fiat is a good tip .

mine,s leaking oil also, and my cam seal is getting reapcled soon so hopefully will sovle the problem, getting it done, head gasket reapcled, gears sorted out all for less than £100
