Hello everybody. I noticed that oil is leaking from my sump plug. Tightened it abit and the leak is dramatically reduced but still drips slightly. Thinking of changing the plug but noticed that the one on the car now is the bolt type rather than the allen key type thats being sold. Is the one on my car now not an original? Could that be the reason why it is leaking?

I've had a look at ebay and shop4parts for the plug. The one on ebay has a washer but the one on parts4u doesn't. They said it doesn't need a washer because their bolt doesn't have a lip. Which should i go for?

Guess what Dave...turns out that the plug on the sump pan is completely a different size. It has a nut top and a washer. The thread size is about half the size as the one you given me. I don't get it..is the sump an aftermarket one?..in does look rather new..
I ended up just cleaning the old plug and putting ptfe around the thread...and now my oil filter is stuck. Doh!!! Nightmare oil change
