hey guys! I've just bought my first fiat punto for a snippit of a price because there were a few issues with it, one being a dent between the drivers side taillight and the fuel cap (where some moron reversed a transit van into it) and the other being that the passenger side electric window is gubbed! its a 97 p reg punto sx. other than these two issues its a fantastic wee car with a milage of only 81,000 and you could eat your dinner on the engine bay, it is immaculate for age!!

The dent, i can get seen to no bother, but the electric windows puzzling me. when i connected the switch back up i found that the motor will move the window up an inch or two or down an inch or two, then just start to grunt. at first i assumed the window was sticking so i lubed it all up with WD40 but to no avail......

I'm no expert but i've got enough knowledge to get by (just lol!!)

Anybody else experienced such problems?? and any suggestions on how to go about sorting this??

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers (y)
Stevie

OH I FORGOT TO MENTION........................

when i'm driving the window slowly but surely slides down inside the door!! its so bad that after about 50miles driving its worked its way down to half open!

whenever i know i have to park up soon, i pull over somewhere hidden so i can push the window closed so that no-one knows the window could easily be opened from outside!!! lolololol

I'm laughing now, wouldnt be if someone nicked my car!!

It sounds like you might need a new (or second hand) electric winder. (think thats what it's called - the thing that makes the window go up and down). I had a similar problem when i bought my punto, except mne was stuck, 3/4 of the way up. Could figure out how to fix it, then my mechanic yanked it up and changed the winder, think it was £15ish from the scrap yard.

muchos gracias mate :D , might have a look around the scrappies n see what i can get my hands on.... i guess the white strip up the middle is the winder (the bit thats clipped to the bottom of the window)??? i've seen the full mechanisms on sale on ebay for about 15-20 quid. been thinkin maybe i just take the whole mechanism out n put a new one in?? :slayer:

Cheers for that man, you've shed a bit of light on it for me and put me in the right direction!
:worship:
