thinking about replacing the engine, gearbox etc in punto mk1 1.1i, just enquiring as to which engines would fit easliy does not have to be a fiat engine. looking to inistall anything up to 2.0l, do not really want to upgrade drive shaft etc

you need to explain your circumstances/ability
1st thing is insurance as engine swaps cost big on premiums.
common upgrades,air filter,exhaust,lighten the car
a 1st upgrade worth considering is brakes/suspension as it allows you to utilise the power you have more efficiently.

Sorry but, by the time you've got 2 litre power form a 1 litre engine:bang:

Brakes 3 options

DISCS + calipers from a 16v car, or (oddly) the punto van. discs and calipers from the GT. the complete works of brakes from a GT.

Oh aftermarket options......no idea I'm tight.

I went for the first option and got lucky at a breakers. £40 and some effort.

Engine
Critch chip - check around here,
Some form of induction will help the engine mid range £40 to £100
421 manifold £200 +
exhaust £150 +
Throttle body 42mm and inlet spacer £160?
75 cam (from 8v 1.2 sporting) around £40 I got lucky, breakers £15.

Lots of time and effort, lots of research, power ...yeah its quicker, a lot quicker but a drastic improvement, no way.

Other options - pressurised induction of some sort, n2o maybe ( not done this my insure eyebrows won't take it

There are other ways of going about it, look around the forum and the PSF. Check the crazy cinq people :worship: Oh and the uno fruit cakes:devil:
