Please can someone help. Getting a wheezing type noise from engine bay on the drivers side on a Mk 1 when accelerating. ( seems to be coming from near cam or alternator area ) Probably more so from cold. Also heater blowing cold air but sometimes if i rev the engine warm air starts to come through. Replaced the thermostat 6mnths ago but now temp needle going too high although the fan is actually coming on.

i got a noise like that in my mk1 last year from cold in the mornings but only happen when i accelerated stayed with the car for like 10mins untill it warmed up then disapeard.

Yeah i had that sound for a while when starting from cold. It only seemed to happen after a drive of around 20 miles, then when starting the car a few hours later. Have noticed it recently but then haven't been 20 miles!

I hope it hasn't got anything to do with the overheating. I don't have a temp guage, which is a bit **** tbh!

i get the strange noise too on both of the punto i had and the punto i got now and my dad had the same noise on his punto

and the temp thing i had that for ages couldnt figure it out then when i was putting more water in cos it was drinking water like crazy i could smell unleaded fuel down the water filler bit
the head gasket had gone but i caught it i time before it did any serious damage
