General Genuine MP3 Radio + Phone.. Help please!!

Hi all,

Another question am afraid

Anyway il get straight to the point:

I have a punto Mk2B with the optinal MP3 compatible radio and the the Fiat 100W Subwoofer

When scrolling through the menu, it says "PHONE" (Sorry it says Journey on the screen below in the pics! Thats just for telling you which artist or song is on at that particular time).

I have also found a wire underneath my steering column (shown in the second picture). Is this where a phone kit can be installed into the cars radio? If you know what this wire is for please drop me a messege

Any help would be appreciated.

I may be wrong, but most HU's have a phon option, but all it is is usually a wire or two, that mute the radio when a call takes place, generally they don't interface with the radio unless they are blootooth HU's which yours doesn't appear to be.


If you wnated to integrate your phone into the stero i think you are out of luck TBH. Even getting the radio to mute, means that wire has the be linked up to your phone connector. To much hassle for he effect i think.

i will go and see my local dealer throught the week to fathom out what the wires for.

the phone wire on the HU(if it is)is there for the hands free.
basically when a call comes through its this wire that earths out and mutes the stereo.
thats why it needs to be ocvered as it could earth out and the stereo would mute for no apparent reason

cheers once again, im going to carlisle Fiat on tuesday to find out some history on my car, as it was bought there when new, but i bought it privately. I will ask them for a second opinion.
