Hi I am thinking of getting a Punto and want the cheapest one which looks like :-

1.2 8V Active, 1.2 8V Dynamic or the 1.2 16V Active Plus (slightly more £s) but I cannot find what you actually get extra on the actice plus compared to the active. Anyone know, or is it just the 16V?

As the Dynamic & Active plus are the same price almost.

plus = 16v?
active = 8v

I know this one is old, but for reference the Active Plus is as per the Active, with the addition of ABS and Remote locking. Not to mention the 16v engine

Get the 16v (y) its well worth the extra £££'s, you wont regret it!
Trouble is it's extra £££ on the insurance too.

I think Fiat's badging system is a bit of a miss really, it seems a bit confusing but maybe that is inevitable... mine is an active (not plus or anything) but it has ABS and a Subwoofer thingy. I think they must do various special offers.

If your car was built after July this year then all Puntos have ABS as standard. Otherwise someone will have specified it. Looks like the sub-woofer was also specified as an extra.

Fiat are always messing about with the spec. My sister has a 51-plate ELX 8v and I have an '02 ELX JTD. They were only registered 9 weeks apart, yet mine has reading lights and the sub-woofer fitted, where as hers does not, but it does have the optional remote locking and front fog lights.

I noticed sometime in 2003 they were doing a 'JTD for 16v' offer on the Dynamic where as previously the JTD had been £500 more. However, what they don't mention is the sunroof was also taken off the JTD at the same time...

Nope. Feb 2003. The car was new, I certainly didn't pay for any extras. I think it was a special offer, maybe when sales started to slip a bit

If you want to get any Fiat cheap then join CSMA recovery or Frizzel Insurance and you can save upto 40% on puntos, 30% on most other things and 25% on Stilo's. I think membership to their most basic cover is like £40, well worth it. And you get a monthly mag (full of crap mind, but still makes good burning material).
